Obituary of Mary Jane Sauser

Mary Jane was born Nov. 7, 1945 in Cascade, Iowa the daughter of Herbert and Helen (Kurt) McNally. She graduated from Aquin High School in Cascade with the class of 1964. Mary Jane married Peter Sauser on Oct. 8, 1966 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Cascade. They moved to Monticello in 1969 where she raised her daughter. Over the years, Mary Jane worked as a classroom aide at Sacred Heart School and was a volunteer Camp Fire leader. In 1988, she became the owner/operator of Country Gardens Greenhouse. Mary Jane was also a long-time Longaberger Basket consultant and became good friends with many of her customers. Mary Jane had a variety of interests, including quilting, cross stitching, and antiquing. She was an avid collector of all things Santa Claus. She and her husband had a shared love of Red Wing stoneware and filled their home with many beloved pieces. She had a special fondness for a little dog named Dudley. Surviving are her husband, Pete of Monticello, a daughter, Laura Sauser of Des Moines, Iowa, a brother Dave (Kay) McNally of Cascade, IA, and 2 sisters: Judith Redwine of LaQuinta, CA and Margie (Joe) Gehl of Cascade, IA, a sister-in-law, Tami McNally of South Bend, IN, and a brother-in-law, Leo "Nick" (Julie) Sauser of Monticello, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Steve McNally. The Parish Scripture Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Kramer Funeral Home, Monticello, Iowa.
