Obituary of Jeanette Clara Tauke

Jeanette C. Tauke, 89, of Dyersville, Iowa died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, Iowa surrounded by her family. Friends may call from 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where the American Legion Auxiliary and Order of Martha Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 9, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Dennis Quint will officiate. Jeanette was born March 3, 1923 in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Joseph and Clara (Osterhaus) Bagge. She married Cletus J. Tauke on May 24, 1948, in Petersburg, Iowa. Together they dairy farmed for nearly 40 years near Garnavillo, Iowa until retiring to Dyersville in 1984. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish and the Layettes, the Order of Martha and the American Legion Auxiliary Post 137. Jeanette loved to garden, cook and sew. Survivors include a daughter, Sarah (Sam) Schmelzer of Asbury, a daughter-in-law, Lois Tauke of Cascade, 4 grandchildren: Renee Paylor (Tony Croom), Andy Tauke, Amy Jin Schmelzer and Angela (Jason) Steffen, three great grandchildren: Antonio Paylor, Trey Croom and Parker Steffen, 3 sisters: Alice Boeckenstedt of Dubuque, IA, Priscilla (LaVern) Moorman of Strawberry Point, IA, and Mary Ellen Hoefler of Lamont, IA, 1 brother, Daniel (Myrna) Bagge of Dyersville, IA, sisters-in-law: Carol Bagge and Imogene Bagge and Leonette Wessels, all of Dyersville. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Clete in 2003, a son, Robert in 2011, her twin brother, Jerome Bagge, another brother, Leon Bagge, 3 sisters, Mila and Laura Betty Bagge, Pearl (Omer) Koelker, brothers-in-law: Clarence (Loretta) Tauke, Albert Boeckenstedt, Arnold Hoefler, and LaVern Wessels.
