Survivors include her children: Dr. Ann Goerdt of New York, NY, John Goerdt and Susan Myers of Urbandale, IA, Jane and Robert Schockemoehl of Des Moines, IA, 7 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, one sister, Shirley Anderson of Cherokee, IA, and in-laws: Marie (John) Brueckner of Dyersville and Helen (Vincent) Meyers of Iowa City, IA She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clete in 1987, two children, Stephen Goerdt and Nina Shavers, and son-in-law, Carl Shavers Lola was born on June 13, 1913 in Petersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Anna (Osterhaus) Bohlke. She married Cletus E. Goerdt on November 24, 1938 in Dyersville, Iowa. Together they owned and operated Goerdt Meat Locker from 1937-1973. Lola enjoyed volunteer work at the hospital and for church fund raising activities. She also liked visiting family, hosting dinners for family and friends, and spent many years caring for her and Clete's elderly parents. "Grandma Lola" was known for making the best cookies in the neighborhood. Friends may call from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday, March 13, 2009, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish rosary will be held at 4 p.m. and a scripture service held at 6:30 p.m.
