Obituary of Eileen Louise Huberty

Eileen is survived by a son Jack and a daughter Janet (Jim) Willenbring both of Dyersville, grandchildren Julie Adams of Dyersville, Judy (Harold) Dean of Peosta, Joe Willenbring of Dyersville and Jill (Nathan) Black of Farley, great grandchildren Taurus Black and Allyssa Dean, one sister Ruth Benke of Monticello, a sister-in-law Gale Westemeier of Dyersville and a brother-in-law Pete Boge of Dyersville. She was proceeded in death by her husband 'Dimp' in 1985, her parents, a sister Norma Wilson, a brother David Westemeier, brother-in-laws Dick Benke and Francis "Red" Wilson, and a great granddaughter Isabelle Dean at birth. Eileen was born on December 1, 1927 in Dyersville, Iowa, the oldest child of Herbert and Germaine (Stronk) Westemeier. She attended Xavier grade school and high school. She married Donald "Dimp" Huberty on June 7, 1947 in Dyersville, Iowa. In 1952 they moved to Dubuque, as both were employed at Farley and Loetscher Mfg. Eileen worked in the office until F&L closed. In 1960, they built a new home in Dyersville and Eileen worked as an office manager at J.C.Penneys. She then accepted a position as City Clerk of Dyersville, a job she held for 29 years before retiring in 1990. Eileen was the secretary/treasurer for the Rural Community Fire Department for 46 years, retiring in 2008. She was a member of the Basilica Choir for numerous years. After retirement Eileen found her nitch in life; assisting people and her community. Eileen's dedication to service included 4 terms on the Dyersville City Council, driving part-time as a volunteer for RTA and working part-time in customer service at Younkers in Dubuque, the job she never wanted to give up. She enjoyed family gatherings for birthdays, reunions and especially Christmas. Eileen had a special love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed playing cards, dominoes and bingo. Eileen enjoyed bowling in many leagues in Dyersville and Dubuque and was an avid Cubs and NASCAR fan. She will be missed by Laci and Mickey, the family pets. In lieu of flowers, an Eileen L. Huberty Memorial Fund has been established. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. Brian Moran, the nursing and physical therapy staff at Finley Hospital and Manor Care Rehabilitation and to Above and Beyond Hospice for their kind and compassionate care during this difficult time. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Monday, March 30, 2009, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 2 p.m. and a V.F.W. Auxiliary Rosary held at 4 p.m.
