MONTICELLO, IOWA Vincent P. Leibold, 85, of Monticello, Iowa died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Monticello Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Monticello, Iowa after a lengthy illness. Friends may call from 4 - 8 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 3, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Monticello, Iowa, with burial in Sacred Heart cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Keith Birch. . . Vince was born on March 14, 1924 in Sand Springs, Iowa, the son of John and Mayme (Kurt) Leibold. He joined the United States Army in 1945 serving during WWII in Japan. Vince farmed near Monticello for 30 years and was employed at Orbis for 10 years before retiring and moving to Monticello. He was an avid gardener, enjoyed playing cards, cracking walnuts and recycling. Military Honors will be accorded by the Monticello Drill Team Vince was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church who loved and cherished everyone he came in contact with and will be dearly missed. Survivors include his children: Vicki (Dick) Deshaw of Bloomington, WI, Julie Picray (friend Tim) of West Liberty, IA, Dan (Diane) Leibold of Monticello, IA, Amy (Bob) Neff of Springfield, OH, David (Judy) Leibold of Savanna, GA, and Rick (Diane) Leibold of Monticello, IA. 13 grandchildren: Holly and Adam Deshaw, Carrie Yates, Matt Picray, Bobby, Annie and Brennan Neff, Heidi, Josh, Abbey, Nicholas, Tessa, Ty Leibold. 3 great grandchildren: Zach Yates, Kaitlyn and Tommy Neff. brothers: Louie Leibold of Cascade, IA, and James Leibold of Clear Water, KS, sisters: Marion Manternach of Cascade, and Leona Buckley of El-Cajon, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister Grace Hageman of Monticello A memorial has been established in Vincent's memory and will be used for local charities .
