Obituary of Robert John Schnack

Survivors include his children: Vanessa (friend Jason) Somers of Rockton, Ill., Catherine (Rob) Schwiesow of Algonquin, Ill., Anthony (friend Rachel) of Sycamore, Ill., and William, Nathan, and Stacy Schnack, all of South Beloit, Ill; 2 grandchildren: Starr and Jazmine Somers; brothers and sisters: Ellen (Arthur) Zschiegner of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Ray (Esther Eich) Schnack of Rockford, Ill., Karen (Lynn) Daniels of Miles, Iowa, Rich (Mary) Schnack of Eldridge, Iowa, John (Darlene) Schnack of Webster Groves, Missouri, Elizabeth Mink of Clinton, Iowa, and Paul (Lynn) Schnack of DeWitt, Iowa; many nieces and nephews and great nephews; the mother of his children, Kim Schnack of South Beloit, Ill., and his second wife, DeeAnn Schnack of Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helen Schnack. Bob was born on May 27, 1947, in Clinton, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Lois (Mohr) Schnack. He joined the US Air Force in 1968 and served until 1972, spending part of this time in Thailand. Bob graduated from Iowa State University in 1974 with a degee in computer science. He was a computer programmer for several companies, and since 1997 was employed at Learning Curve Brands as the Manager of EDI Systems. Bob enjoyed playing softball, bowling, fishing, collecting toy cars, and he was an avid golfer. He was the proud father of six children and grandfather of two grandchildren. He was very supportive of their activities. He was also a very special friend to his co-workers. Friends may call from 3:30 - 7 p.m. Thursday, April 2, 2009, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery in Clinton, Iowa on Friday, April 3, 2009, at 11 a.m. A Robert Schnack Memorial Fund has been established and memorials are preferred.
