Leona Lincoln, 88, of Anamosa, Iowa died Friday May 22, 2009 at St Luke's Medical Center Cedar Rapids Iowa after a lengthy illness. Friends may call from 4 until 7p.m. Monday, May 25th 2009 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 26th, 2009 at St Paul Lutheran Church, Anamosa, Iowa with burial in Oakwood cemetery, Monticello Iowa. Officiating will be Pastor William Nielsen. . . Leona was born on August 8, 1920 in Scotch Grove, Iowa, the daughter of Lee and Emma Brokens Sanford. She married Lowell Lincoln on January 8, 1954 in, Hopkinton, Iowa. Leona was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Anamosa and taught Sunday school for many years. She loved crafting, sewing, traveling, the ocean and dolphins. Leona often enjoyed watching wildlife, especially cardinals, but the most important joy in her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include her, daughter Sharon Petersen of Hiawatha, IA Two grandsons, Michael (Glenda) Harms and Steve (Laura) Harms of Cedar Rapids IA. One Granddaughter, Megan (Brad) Shanahan also of Cedar Rapids, IA. Six great grandchildren, Grace,Connor,Nathan and Nicholas Harms. Coady and Emmalee Shanahan all of Cedar Rapids, IA. One Brother Richard (Rose) Sanford of Monticello, IA Two Sisters Esther (Paul) Burrack of Marion, IA.and Wilma (Albert) Merfeld of Monticello, IA Leona was preceded in death by her parents and husband Lowell.
