Obituary of Claudia Sue Heiderscheit

Claudia Sue Heiderscheit, 62, of Dyersville, and formerly of Luxemburg, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center in Dyersville with her husband at her side. Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 16, 2012, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a vigil service will be held at 4:00 p.m. A Catholic Order of Foresters rosary will commence at 10:15 a.m. and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Luxemburg. Rev. Noah Diehm will officiate. Claudia was born February 26, 1950, in Boone, Iowa, the daughter of Warren and Lois (Siders) Phipps. She graduated from Sioux Falls College in Sioux Falls, S.D. with a BA in education and continued graduate work thereafter. Claudia was an elementary school teacher for 15 years of which she spent 6 years in Guttenberg, and 9 years at Allamakee School District in Dorchester, IA. She was raised Baptist but converted to Catholic when she married William Joseph Heiderscheit on June 26, 1987, at Holy Trinity Church, Luxemburg, Iowa. Together they volunteered for the Holy Trinity Confirmation Program, as well as Oak Crest Manor & Mercy Hospital in Dyersville for many, many years receiving recognition for over 1000 hours worked. Claudia loved going on road trips with her husband, Bill, and getting lost throughout their travels. She also enjoyed reading, quilting, handwork and gardening and was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Cross Court 881, St. Francis Xavier Parish and a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg. Survivors include her loving husband of 25 years, Bill, one sister, Ellen L. Boker of Otho, IA, one brother, Craig A. (Debra) Phipps of Waukon, IA; a brother-in-law, Robert (Ann) Heiderscheit of Dyersville, and a sister-in-law, Margaret Heiderscheit of Dubuque; 17 nieces and nephews: Mark, Jason and Chad Boker, Josh Phipps, Katie Melcher, Karen Nieman, Lois Heiderscheit, Dan Heiderscheit, Diane Brown, Ron Heiderscheit, Donna Fenton, Mike, Pat, Ken, Mark, David and Marvin Heiderscheit; numerous great nieces and nephews and 1 great-great niece. She was preceded in death by her father, Warren Arnold Phipps in 1982, mother, Lois Ellen (Siders) Phipps in 2009, parents-in-law: William John and Martha (Schneider) Heiderscheit, Sr., and a brother-in-law, Ken Heiderscheit. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred. Thank you to our friends and family, and to Cookie, Fr. Diehm, Fr. Quint and Fr. Ptacek for your presence and prayers. A special thank you to the staff at EKLC, Mercy - Dyersville, Dr.Hermann, Dubuque Internal Medicine and Finley Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion.
