Surviving are his wife, Beulah (Scheckel) Kramer of Naples, Florida; seven children: Dennis (Jan) Kramer of Dyersville, Terry (Sandi) Kramer of Naples, Florida, Tommy Kramer of Brevard, North Carolina, Randy (Brenda) Kramer of Guttenberg, Sheila Kramer of New York, New York, Larry Kramer of Naples, Florida, and Diane Sokolowski (Dan) of Lincoln, Nebraska, 5 grandchildren: Ryan Kramer, Joe Kramer, Shelley (friend Carl Blake) Kramer, Brian Kramer, Mitchell Kramer, 2 great grandchildren: Gabriella and William, 5 brothers: Marvin (Jean) Kramer of Farley, Iowa, Bernard (Mary) Kramer of Meza, Arizona, Ronald (Joan) Kramer of Epworth, Iowa, Dan Kramer of Dyersville, David (Lisa) Kramer of Dyersville, Iowa, 1 sister, Margie (Jim) Grawe of Marion, Iowa, brother-in-law, Dan (Mary Ann) Otting of Waukon, Iowa, sisters-in-law, Anita (Vincent) Schmidt, Nora (Joe) Conner of Oakland, California, 44 nieces & nephews, 41 great nieces & nephews and one great, great niece. He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen Otting; mother, Coletta Kramer; and father, Louis Kramer, mother in law, Leona Scheckel and father-in-law, Matt Scheckel and brother-in-law, Myrl Scheckel. Vernon was born on October 3, 1934 in Sand Springs, Iowa, the son of Louis and Coletta (Evers) Kramer. He married Beulah C. Scheckel on Oct. 22nd, 1955 in Springbrook, Iowa. They lived in Dyersville until 1990 and retired in Naples, Florida. Vernon had a true passion for flying. He was a private pilot and spent many years at the Dyersville Airport. Vernon was also one of the top Jet Engine RC Modelers in the United States. He and his son Larry have won over 50 major awards for their flying and building skills. Vernon is a retiree of John Deere for 34 years. Friends may call from 2 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 20, 2009 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Kruse. The family wishes to thank all their friends and family in Dyersville and in the RC Modeling community for all of their care and support through their Father's illness. Memorials may be given to Beckman High School.
