Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Elaine, one son, Jason James (Jamie) Pollock of Madison, WI, one daughter, Stephanie (Frank) Pollock Hansen of Marshall, WI, 2 grandchildren: Francesca and Alastair Hansen, 3 sisters: Lucille Thiltgen (Oswald) of Galena, IL, Darlene Smith of Surprise, AZ, Mary Ann (Dan) Breitbach of Rickardsville, IA, brother-in-law, Ken (Jane) Rausch of Knoxville, TN, and several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond Pollock, step-father, Leroy Friederick, 2 brothers-in-law, Sam Smith and Tom Smith, 1 sister-in-law, Louise Pollock, father and mother-in-law, Edward and Alice Rausch. Jim was born on May 20, 1945 in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Elmer and Florence (Hoffmann) Pollock. He graduated Holy Cross High School in 1963, then served in the U.S. Navy from 1964-1966. Jim married Elaine Rausch on April 20, 1968 in, Luxemburg, Iowa. Jim was employed at Schmitt Implement from 1970-1985 as a salesman in Holy Cross. Then in 1985, Jim & Elaine started Pollock Agri-Service. After 13 years of operation, they sold their business to LiquiGrow Fertilizer. During the past five years, Jim was a Crop Consultant for Crop Production Service retiring in April of 2009. For over 25 years, Jim was committed to selling DeKalb Seed Corn. Jim was dedicated to his wife, children, grandchildren and family. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, farming, visiting with friends, riding his 4-wheeler around the farm and cutting grass. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 4 p.m. and the Scherrman-Peterson American Legion Post 656 will hold a prayer service at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 31, 2009 at Holy Cross Catholic Church, Holy Cross, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by Scherrman - Peterson American Legion Post 656. Officiating will be Rev. Dale Rausch with Rev. Raymond Burkle as concelebrant. Memorials are preferred.
