He is survived by his wife, Helen, 5 children: Chris (Terry) Leonard of Dyersville, IA, Pat (Michele) Feyen of Frisco, TX., Cheryl Lammers of Dubuque, IA, Mike (Cynthia) Feyen of Flower Mound, TX. and Sarah (Jerry) Kummer of Sachse, TX; 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Bette Jettner of Battle Creek, MI and a brother, Carl Feyen of Dubuque, IA. 3 sisters-in-law: Dorothy Kupferschmidt, Millie Wedewer and Mary Nugent. He was preceded in death by his parents, his parents-in-law, Edward and Frances Meyer; 2 sisters: Adele Fath and Lois Fath; a brother-in-law, Jerome Meyer and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae Conlon. Bill was born March 25, 1931 in Davenport, Iowa the son of Carl and Christina (Horan) Feyen. Bill served in the US Navy from 1948 until 1952. Bill and Helen Meyer were united in marriage on October 9th, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Dubuque. He was a truck driver for the majority of his life, most recently for Tschiggfrie Excavating until retiring in 1996. He was a member of American Legion Post 137 and was a past member and Commander of Amvets Post 3. Bill was an active leader of the Boy Scouts and was instrumental in the development of Nativity Church and it's community in Dubuque. Bill and Helen moved to Dyersville in 1970. Bill was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His favorite times were family gatherings and he was intimately involved in the lives of his loved ones. He was a dedicated sports fan and was passionate about the Cubs and the Hawkeyes. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville where a parish scripture service will be held at 3 p.m. and an American Legion service will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville. Rev. Phil Kruse will officaite and burial will be in the church cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by American Legion Post 137. Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Dubuque.
