Obituary of Armella Clemen

Survivors include 4 sons: Jerome (Patricia) Clemen of Holy Cross, Dale (Carol) and Loras (Darlene) Clemen both of Dubuque, and Francis (Linda) Clemen of Colesburg, 3 daughters; Germaine (Marvin) Gaul and Janice (Willis) Wagner both of Holy Cross and Cathy (Don) Keppler of Manchester, 29 grandchildren, 62 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild and 1 step great great grandson, and a brother, Clarence Schieltz of Guttenberg. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Alphonse, one son, Vernon, two brothers: Vincent and Cy Schieltz, three sisters: Valeria Oberbroeckling, Germaine Billington and Mildred Steffen, 4 infant siblings, a grandchild, Craig Clemen. Armella was born January 26, 1909 in Luxemburg, Iowa the daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Henkels) Schieltz. She married Alphonse F. Clemen June 12, 1928. He preceded her in death on April 13, 1983. Together they farmed near Holy Cross until retiring in 1965. Armella enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting, attending daily mass and leading the Rosary at Stonehill Care Center. She was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 881. Special thanks to Stonehill Care Center staff for their years of compassionate care and to Hospice of Dubuque for their help through Mother's final illness. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m., Thursday October 15, 2009 at the Kramer Funeral Home in Holy Cross where the Parish Scripture Service will be recited at 4 p.m.
