Obituary of Timothy Joseph Pins
Timothy J. “Bert” Pins, 70, of Dyersville, Iowa passed away Sunday, November 3, 2024 at MercyOne Hospital, in Dyersville, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 2 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, November 10, 2024 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where the Dyersville Fire Dept will gather at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue Monday morning from 9 - 10 a.m. at the funeral home prior to funeral mass.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 11, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate .
Timothy was born January 3, 1954, in Manchester, IA, son of Albert and Esther (Leigh) Pins. He married Mary Ellen Kramer on December 27, 1976 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa.
Tim was the Development Director at Beckman Catholic High School for 24 years retiring in 2019 and was inducted into the Hall of Fame Class in 2022. He also committed his time as a bus driver for Western Dubuque School District and Tri-State Travel. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, family vacations and exploring other states. Tim also had a wonderful sense of humor, with his dad jokes and always had an interesting story to tell. He was a proud member of the Dyersville Volunteer Fire Dept for 36 years, (including 9 years as treasurer and 18 years in emergency management), member of Ancient Order of Hibernians, Knights of Columbus, Beckman Booster Club and Dyersville Historical Society. Tim’s Catholic faith and Catholic education was very important part of his life. He was also known as the voice of the Blazers as a football announcer for 39 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 48 years, Mary Pins; his children: Melissa (Dave) Schnorrenberg of Eldridge, IA, Michelle (Ben) Humiston of Bondurant, IA, Amanda Pins of Chicago, IL; grandchildren: Karly, Claire, Lydia, Liam Schnorrenberg, Finley and Leo Humiston; siblings: Kathleen Telger of Fort Worth, TX, Mary Esther (Lee) Walters of Maple Grove, MN, Betty (Ray) Flores of Rocklin, CA, Chris (Sharon) Pins from Texas; in-laws: Joyce Pins of Merrillville, IN, Ken (Jean) Kramer of New Port Richey, FL, Kay Steffen of Dubuque, and Ron (Renee) Kramer of Coralville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Philip Pins, Theodore Pins in infancy, in-laws: Terry Telger and Gene Steffen.
