Mark A. Tauke, 64, of Dyersville, Iowa passed away Saturday, September 21, 2024 at MercyOne Medical Center in Dyersville, Iowa.

Visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m. on Wednesday September 25, 2024 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa.  Visitation will continue at Kramer Funeral Home from 9 - 10 a.m. prior to funeral mass.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday September 26, 2024 at St Francis Xavier Basilica, in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery.  Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate.

Mark was born May 27, 1960 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Marvin and Leona (Bockenstedt) Tauke.

Mark graduated from Beckman High School and then went on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa. Mark resided in Arizona from 1986 to 2007. While there he enjoyed owning 5-Star Dry Cleaners and managing Apache Creek Golf Club in Apache Junction. In 2007, Mark returned to Dyersville. Since that time, he has worked with his brother, Mike, at Tauke Appraisal and for several years was also a realtor for EXIT Realty.

Mark was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed trips back to Arizona to play golf and catch up with old friends. He was a long-time member of Dyersville Golf & Country Club. Tuesday night league, Thursday men’s night, and Eastern Iowa golf tournaments were a few of his favorite outings.

Mark could often be found cruising around town in “Lucy,” his beloved 1966 Chrysler 300 convertible. Mark never met a stranger and made friends with all. A cocktail or two and many laughs and stories were shared with friends on his front porch and around his firepit on his back patio. Mark was known for his excellent cooking and baking; especially his famous homemade salsa, soups from scratch, and homemade pies and ice cream.

Mark took pride in being an Uncle and loved his nieces and nephews as his own. Often inviting them over to ‘PC’, for rides in Lucy, or a round of golf. Mark’s pets, Spooky, Cammie, and Buehlee were his constant companions and best friends.

Mark will be remembered for his larger-than-life personality, and the smiles and laughs he brought to everyone.

Survivors include his mother, Leona Tauke; siblings: Mike Tauke of Manchester, Jack Tauke of Dyersville, Lynn (Mark) Mawe of Grinnell, Lisa (Barry) Klostermann of Delhi. Nieces and nephews, Jesse (Mitch) Boge, Dillon (Tara Condren) Mawe, Jake Mawe, Wade Mawe, Paige Klostermann, Bennet (Taylor) Klostermann, Brooke (Michael) Lueken, and Blair (Paul) Cavin. Great-nieces and nephews, Max Hanken, Bailey Boge, Aubree Klostermann, and William Lueken, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Tauke in 2018, a brother, Jeffry Tauke in 1979, and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your local animal rescue or favorite charity in Mark’s memory.
