I've known Craig for 30 years and although our lives didn't allow us to spend more time together, any time we had to meet up & catch up it was as if we hadn't been apart. We just picked up where we left off. Our time together at the Defense Infornation Schools in MD was not only some of the best of my military career ... but of my life. Craig was a true friend that you could always count on. From our classroom shanagins to the blue tequila fire dance during our group camp outings (don't ask :) ... Craig was always a blast to be around! I'm comforted knowing you are no longer struggling and I know you are at peace! Thank you for all the wonderful memories. I will miss you my friend!

I'm a friend of Keith and his family from Dyersville, and have taught all of his kids. I never met Craig in person; however, I was blessed to learn about Craig from Keith and his sharing of his incredible faith story, which Keith always said was incomplete without Craig's faith story. When we learned of Craig's diagnosis, my family and I have kept Craig in prayer, as well as Carrie and the whole family. The only time I heard Craig speak was in his shared video of "Keith and Craig" when they shared their faith story together, and it was awesome! While I never met Craig in person, I feel like I knew him through Keith and through prayer. Craig has inspired me through his faith and redemptive suffering, and I hope to be able to enjoy eternal life with him in heaven and finally meet him in person someday. Continued prayers for Carrie, Keith, and all family & friends.

We only knew Craig for a short while. His ALS was advancing quickly yet he was always quick with a laugh or funny comment. He never lost his dry sense of humor. He was so strong in the face of incredible adversity and such an inspiration. May you find peace in the golden paths of heaven.

Craig was the most pleasant, easiest person to spend time with. He was always an interesting conversationalist and I enjoyed his company immensely. He and Carrie were great traveling buddies, always up for anything, and so comfortable and easy to be around.
I have such admiration for his handling of his condition with immense grace. I’m thankful for his faith and apparent peace..

Q: What was one of your favorite qualities of Craig?
A: From my perspective, it was his positive, steady, forward-looking energy that I will always admire and hopefully pay forward.
I could write a book but I will be brief.
We met by chance at a community drop-in volleyball activity in Aurora, CO just outside Lowry AFB, where we were both technical instructors. After a few Saturday morning VB meetups, we became regulars, then friends, then teammates too. After a year or two of adventures in Colorado, our military careers and marriages took us different places but we met up every so often in MD, MS, Germany and Italy. After that it was E-mails or Skype.
As you know, Craiger was an excellent, detailed storyteller so every time we met up he would satisfy my curiosity and catch me up on his latest travels and adventures from Army life (ups/downs), Gov service in Kwaj, private work with Sat Radio, and then HQ. Through all of these places he leaned into the mission, attracted the best people, and spread spirited friendship to countless folks. I am lucky to have known him.
May a bit of his energy live on in all of us.

Craig and I were in the army together. He was first an instructor of mine. We discovered that we went to rival high schools and through the years when we would see each other we would brag about who had the bell. It was nice to meet someone so far from home from home. My deepest condolences to his family and those who knew him far better. We shared many good friends in common. I bet he and Scott are having a beer (if that's allowed in heaven).

Q: What will you never forget about Craig?
A: When Craig and Carrie first met, it was obvious that she was madly in love. However, as dear friends of Carrie counseled her, do not leave and go to live with this man that none of us knew. We thought she had lost her mind. Then, yes, then when I met Craig I knew that he was the kind, generous man we all wanted for Carrie and he loved her. He opened up a whole world for Carrie, always kind, always caring, always loving. I bless you Craig for the life and love you gave my Carrie. What a joy you were to be around. I wish you God Speed on this last journey home where you will wait for your Carrie. Blessings and love,
