Dear Family of Mary Wohlford, I am expressing my sincere sympathy to each and everyone of you. Mary was one of the most unique human beings I have ever met. Speaking of meeting, I met Mary many years ago in the Hoffman Library as she was checking out materials. She made it very clear to you what she approved of and what she did not. I dearly loved checking her out because I learned so much from her about the entire world. What a good and gracious woman Mary was. She was articulate and caring and above all a very devout Catholic. I feel the gates of heaven were standing wide open when Mary came a knocking. Almighty God knew who she was because she spoke to Him very often during her tenure on earth.
As you walk in the valley of darkness, please know we are praying for you. Mary carved a niche in everyone's heart that had the pleasure of meeting her both near and far.
Mary, may you rest in peace.

To the family of Mary. Back in the early 1980s, Walt and Mary rented out a small apartment in their house to me, a single parent of a 3 and 5 year old. The whole family were very welcoming, and Mary was one of the kindest people I have ever met. Whenever I took my kids, my current wife, and now my grandkids, to Dyersville (we were just there yesterday), I always take them by the Wohlford house to share my fond memories. I carry a cherished place in my heart for Mary and Walt, and offer my sincere condolences to their eight daughters. Mary will live forever in the memories we all carry of her. Bless all.
