Obituary of Nicholas John Schlarmann

Nicholas J. Schlarmann, 31, of Des Moines and formerly of Worthington, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at his home.

 

Private services will be held for immediate family & friends at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa.

 

Nick was born on June 25, 1993, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Michael and Cindy (Pfab) Schlarmann.  He was a 2011 graduate of Western Dubuque High School, University of Iowa graduate with a degree in actuarial science, and a consultant for Nationwide Insurance.

 

Nick could often be found spending time with his dog, Digby, going for walks and enjoying time in nature. He also enjoyed rock climbing, photography, video games, board games, camping, and hiking. He liked to experiment with different musical instruments, including his guitars, violin, and keyboard. Nick had a kind soul, was valued for his intelligence, and cherished at work. He will be greatly missed by his family.

 

Survivors include his parents, Mike and Cindy Schlarmann of Worthington; siblings: Alex (Jolynn) Schlarmann of Bernard, Lindsey (Mamadou) Tall of Whitestown, Indiana, Allison (partner, Valerie Harbin) Schlarmann of Johnston; nephews and niece: Finnick, Duncan, Elon, Lyle, Evanna, and Colter Schlarmann; paternal grandfather, Ray Schlarmann, Jr.; maternal grandmother, Bertha Pfab; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

 

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Marlene Schlarmann, and his maternal grandfather, Clarence Pfab.
