DYERSVILLE, IOWA

Lloyd Joseph Konzen, 85, peacefully passed away on Thursday morning, June 20, 2024. He was born on February 9, 1939, in Farley, Iowa, the youngest of seven children to Frank and Elizabeth (Neumann) Konzen. Lloyd attended Saint Joseph's High School in Farley, and after graduation, proudly served in the United States Army.

Upon his return home, Lloyd married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Mary Terese Smith, on September 15, 1962. Together, they settled in Dyersville, IA and lovingly raised their four children.

Lloyd was an accomplished multi-sport athlete, excelling in baseball, slow-pitch softball, golf and league basketball. He was also an avid fisherman and cherished his time on the water. Lloyd's passion for bowling was legendary, culminating in his induction into the Bowling Hall of Fame at Ertl Lanes in Dyersville, Iowa.

Known at the Dyersville Sportsman's Club as "Double L", Lloyd served on the Board of Directors for several years. After retiring from his 31 years at John Deere Dubuque Works, Lloyd continued his service at the Sportsman Club, donating his time and maintaining the grounds.

A devoted sports enthusiast, Lloyd was a staunch supporter of the Cleveland Indians/Guardians and the Iowa Hawkeyes, rarely missing an opportunity to cheer them on.

Lloyd will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his four children: Colleen (Scott) Kasner of Pecatonica IL, Jeffrey (Lori) Konzen of Grimes, IA, Carol (Kelley) McGraw of Marion, IA and John (Tammy) Konzen of Cedar Rapids, IA; 11 grandchildren: Matthew Thole, Andrew (Meagan) Thole, Koryn (Jordan) Brickson, Kaleb (Breanna) Kasner, Kristyn Kasner, Jacob Konzen, Nick McGraw, Tyler (Hali) Konzen, Zach McGraw, Jaxson (Lindsey) Konzen, Kyle Konzen; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Elmer) Robey of Belle Vista, AR; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; his parents; four brothers: Clarence Konzen, Jim Konzen, Fred Konzen, Frank Konzen; one sister, Ardell Craugh; one sister in infancy and two brothers-in-law.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 2 at 11:00 am at St. Francis Xaiver Basilica in Dyersville. Burial services will follow at St. Francis Cemetery in Dyersville with Military Honors conducted by Dyersville American Legion Post #137.
