Obituary of Mary Margaret Lansing
DYERSVILLE, IOWA
Mary Margaret Lansing, 91, of Dyersville passed away on Tuesday June 11, 2024, at MercyOne SeniorCare in Dyersville, Iowa (just a mere 10 days after her husband, Jerome).
Visitation will be held from 2 - 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home prior to the funeral mass.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 am on Monday, June 17, 2024, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate.
Mary was born on March 26, 1933, in New Vienna, the daughter of Bernard and Louise (Klostermann) Wente. She married Jerome A. Lansing on April 21, 1956, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa. Together they farmed southeast of Worthington until moving to Dyersville in 2004.
Mary was a gentle, faith filled woman who raised her family in the same respect. She enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and sewing, and she volunteered as a host baker at St. Francis Xavier Basilica.
Survivors include her children: Janet (Lynn) Nosbisch and Patti (Larry) Mensen, both of Dyersville, and Cindy (Ken) Steffen of New Vienna; a son-in-law, Marc Sequeira of Marion, IA; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren, a sister, Delores Gaul of Epworth and in-laws: Verna Rose (LeRoy) Bries of Guttenberg, William (Joan) Lansing of Worthington; Bernice Lansing and Rita Lansing, both of Dyersville and Betty Mullis of LaPorte City, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jerome on June 1, 2024, 3 daughters: Barbara Lansing in 1959, Kristine Lansing in 1964, and Carolyn Sequeira on January 11, 2022, a great grandson, Benjamin Brunsman; a brother, Robert Wente; in-laws: Lawrence Gaul, Wilma (Leon) Mullis, Joseph (Ruth) Lansing, Art Lansing, John Lansing, Catherine (Hugo) Engelken; and a long-time family friend, Fr. Augustine Dreiling OSB.
The family would like to thank the staffs’ of the Ellen Kennedy Living Center and MercyOne Senior Care for their continued care of our mother.
Memorials are preferred to Beckman Catholic High School or St. Francis Xavier Basilica.
