Obituary of Michael Henry Nerney
PETERSBURG, IOWA
Michael Nerney, 59, of Petersburg passed away Saturday, October 14, 2023, at Jones Regional Medical Center after a sudden heart attack while camping.
Visitation will be held from 2 – 7 pm on Wednesday, October 18, 2023, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue at the funeral home from 9 – 10 am prior to funeral mass. Michael and his family would appreciate if you “come as you are.”
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, October 19, 2023, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in St. Francis Cemetery at a later date. Rev. Chris Podhajsky will officiate.
Michael was born on May 3, 1964, in Chicago, IL, the son of Alvin and Charlotte (Scherer) Nerney. He married Mary Ann Boge on August 7, 1993, in Dubuque, Iowa. They affirmed their vows on August 5, 1999, at Nativity Catholic Church in Dubuque. Michael was an over the road trucker for more than thirty years. He loved the Chicago Bears and White Sox, his cars, trucks, Harleys and camping. Most of all he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; children: Amber Reiten, Austin, Caleb, Seth, Samuel, Charlotte and Chance Nerney, and honorary daughter, Kayla Eimer; his father, Alvin (Diane) Nerney; grandchildren: Welden, Jonah, Abel, Rowen and Milo Reiten; siblings: Erin Howard, Kathy (John) Bucciferro, Jennifer Luna and Emily Nerney; mother-in-law, Sheila Boge, in-laws: Joe (Jane) Boge, Jeff (Angie) Boge and Lisa (Shane) Bell, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, and his father-in-law, Vernon Boge.
