Obituary of Elmer Bernard Oberbroeckling
LUXEMBURG, IOWA
Elmer B. Oberbroeckling, 90, of Luxemburg, Iowa passed away Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at Guttenberg Care Center, Guttenberg, Iowa.
Visitation will be held from 4 - 8 p.m. on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville. Visitation will continue at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville from 9 - 10 a.m. prior to funeral mass.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa. Military honors will be held at Holy Trinity Cemetery following the service with burial held at a later date. Rev. Tyler Raymond will officiate.
Elmer was born on October 4, 1932, in Luxemburg, Iowa, the son of Leonard and Valeria (Schieltz) Oberbroeckling. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict from 1953-1955. Elmer married Carolyn Carnahan on April 27, 1963, in Luxemburg, Iowa. Elmer enjoyed farming the family farm his entire life.
Survivors include his children: Jim (Lynn) Oberbroeckling of Knoxville, IA, Philip (Michaele) Oberbroeckling of Kingwood, TX, grandchildren: Elizabeth (Brendon) Good, Luke (Holly) Oberbroeckling, Kyra and Kacy Oberbroeckling; great grandchildren: Andrew and Evelynn Good; siblings: Eunice Prier of Manchester, Lavonne Clemen of Holy Cross, Grace Pasker of New Vienna; in-laws: Sandy (John) Even of Dubuque, Tom (Sherri) Carnahan of Davenport, Steve (Karen) Carnahan of Gillete, WY, Mervin (Karen) Carnahan of Cedar Falls, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Carolyn in 1987; in-laws: Marvin Prier, Leon Clemen and Leon Pasker.
