Obituary of Charles J. Lemmer
Charles J. “Jim” Lemmer, 74 of Monticello, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 23, 2023, surrounded by family, at Charles Jr.’s house in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be held from 9 – 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello.
Funeral services will commence at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello with burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello.
Jim was born on February 4, 1949 in Cascade, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Rosella (Conter) Lemmer. Jim worked all his life at various factories in Monticello, the latest being NCI for 27 years. He loved camping and truck and tractor pulls, especially the Old Threshers Reunion.
Survivors include children: Charles Jr. (Tyanna) Lemmer of Cedar Rapids, Jessica Lemmer of Indiana, six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings: Dorothy Aschtgen of Cascade, Betty Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Rose Mason of Council Bluffs, Monica Chapman of Manchester, Robert (Madona) Lemmer of Monticello, Mike (Laurie) Lemmer of Cascade, sister-in-law, Janet Lemmer of Cedar Falls, and several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Kathy Stimpson of Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, sisters: Theresa Chapman and Pat Lux; brothers: Richard Lemmer and Herman Lemmer; brothers-in-law: Bill Lux, Elmer Aschtgen, Glenn Chapman, Lavern Chapman, Dick Johnson, and Dean Mason.
