Our condolences and prayers to Jeff and the family. In 1984, Amy, Jeff and I were hired by the State of Iowa Department of Public Safety. In 1985, we graduated from 12th DPS Academy. While working with Amy and Jeff in 1984 and 1985, I always thought that they would be the perfect couple and I was honored to a part of their wedding. We progressed through our careers together and though we didn’t see each other and talk as often as I would have liked, we were always able to pick right up where we left off. May you feel lifted by all the love holding you up during this difficult time.

I had the honor of working with Amy. I was a dispatcher for Delaware County 911 Communication center for over 26 years. So many great memories. It was an honor to have worked with her and to get to know her. She was a great person. I will forever remember her and her name always brings a smile to my face. Rest In Peace Amy.

Sorry for your loss of Amy. We really appreciated getting to know her thorough law enforcement career. When we had our first child, she called to make sure everything was ok. Then gave the car seat speech of what to look for and not get in a car seat. Amy said, “ Devon doesn’t need his anymore so it’s yours.” The car seat lasted through both of our children. She was a genuine, caring and had that contagious smile. Although Amy will be missed greatly her memories will live on in all who knew her. Our deepest sympathies to all of you.

Amy and I worked on the same squad at the Ku Klux Klan rally in Dubuque in 1991. We were assigned to the entry control point, tasked with ensuring that only Klan supporters passed through our line, and that protesters were not allowed to access the inner rally area and start fights. We were repeatedly confronted with angry protesters, but throughout the event Amy was a calm, steady, professional presence, and as a bonus she kept a good sense of humor the whole time. I was glad to work with her that day, and it was always a pleasure to see her over the years whenever our path crossed. I greatly admire and respect Amy. She made a marriage, a family, and a rich life, while having a full career in law enforcement. It is a rewarding but challenging field, with some extra challenges for women, and she excelled. She was a remarkable woman, and she is gone far too soon. I am so sorry for your loss, Paula Gieseman (Retired DPD)

Dear Jeff and family,
Expressing our sincere sympathy to you, Jeff and family as you mourn the loss of Amy. I have had you in my prayers upon learning of Amy's illness. Our community has lost a good and gracious woman. She would always greet you with pleasantries especially after she learned we moved here from Lake Mills, Iowa. It was then she shared this little snippet from Lake Mills. She shared she and Jeff were the patrol people who escorted our friends Lt. or Governor Branstad to St. Pat's church in Lake Mills. There was hardly a function at Beckman that did not participate in. We will continue to pray as you walk in the valley of darkness knowing that Amy is reaping the rewards of the good seeds she sowed upon earth. She will be missed by all those who loved her. I have too many wonderful memories to share them all, but I keep remembering how we loved to play "horsies" when we were little. She was always there for me when I needed someone to talk to and a fun companion to go swimming, horseback riding, detasseling, and much more. I love you, Amy, and will miss you so much . . . Amy and Jeff were a perfect couple! It was my pleasure and honor to be a class member with them in the 12 Basic Academy! I had the pleasure of working with Amy and Jeff at the Capitol Police Division for two years. But the highlight of my early police career was when Amy and Jeff and I transferred to the Iowa State Patrol together! Last of all Amy and I both retired in January of 2019. Amy from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and I from the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement. My prayers are with your family. I am sorry I will not be able to attend the funeral. I will be with my youngest brother at Mayo Clinic with his fight with throat Cancer. David Metz ISP #33 and DNE I-148.
