Jean Oberbroeckling posted a condolence

One spring day, the doorbell rang and when I went to answer it, there was Uncle Bud! He was out for a drive and thought he would stop in to see me. We sat down at the dining room table and talked about the war, his life as a young boy and my mom, Marlene, his sister. He shared with me how he came to be my godfather. I was born shortly before he came home on leave from the army. My mom and dad decided earlier that Bud should be apart of the baptism by being my godfather. I have always loved that story.
I shall always remember that spring day. His storytelling ability, with that twinkle in his eye, and his quiet laugh when he recalled something funny, are memory gifts that I will always cherish.
May his memory be with you always. You are in my heart. Jeanne Oberbroeckling

Condolences from the Sabers family. We never really knew Buddy, but have heard the story many times of how he set up our parents first date! He told our Dad (LaVerne Sabers) that he (Dad) was going to take out Ida Rose Wessels. Buddy must have had some power because it worked! Mom and Dad were married 67 years! They went on to have a family of 10 kids with many grandchildren and great grandchildren. When Dad passed away, Buddy came through the visitation line, and even with dementia, Mom knew who was! I hope he smiled as he went through the line and met the crew that he was partially responsible for! Mom, Dad, and our entire family are thankful that Buddy made the match as it was a match made in heaven. What a reunion that will be when they are all back together again! RIP Buddy and thank you!

So sorry to hear of Bus’s passing. Will be thinking of him today, but can’t make the services. I’ll always remember his baseball standings board he had in the basement. No matter the standings I always changed it to put the Cardinals ahead of the Cubs. This always created a chuckle from Bud. He was a good guy.
