Obituary of Lila M. Covington

MONTICELLO, IOWA

Lila M. Covington, 73, of Monticello, Iowa passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.

Visitation will be held from 3 - 7 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello.  Visitation will continue from 9 - 10 a.m.at the funeral home prior to funeral services.

Funeral Services will commence at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello, Iowa with burial to follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Prairieburg, Iowa.

Lila was born on March 7, 1950 in Elgin, Texas, the daughter of Jack and Mary Woods.  She met Richard Covington in Lampases, Texas and they married in 1966.

Lila worked at Polo Custom Products from 1989 to 2015. She enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, going for drives, and spending time with family.

She is survived by her sister, Laverne Ray of Marble Falls, Texas, two children: Rick Covington of Monticello, Laurie (Jim) Chapman of Monticello, six grandchildren: Cassie Covington, Chris Covington, MaKayla Covington, Cathleen Covington, Austin Chapman, Hannah Chapman, two great-granddaughters: Aubry and Lohla Shepherd, and a sister-in-law, Diane Avery.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard, her parents, and parents-in-law, Laura and Louie Thuman and many siblings.
