My deepest sympathies to the family. I grew up in Bankston so I would talk to her at the church breakfasts and fish frys. Also I think she drove my school bus a couple times when I went to school. I knew her oldest, Troy, quite well since we were close in age.

I am actually writing this note of sympathy to you three sons of Phyllis in utter disbelief and sadness. A woman stopped by my garage to deliver goods to my toy project and she told me the sad news of the passing of your mom. Please know I am praying for all of you as you walk in the valley of total darkness. Phyllis, because of the way she lived her life, is reaping the rewards she so rightly deserves. I dearly loved your mom not only for her over-the-top support of our toy project but her affirmative words encouraged me to continue the important work of helping the poor. She was marvelous, happy-go-lucky despite her trials and tribulations. I can still remember the day one of you boys came to my house with your teacher and sat at the dining room table to learn about what transpired in our garage. I deeply care about the loss of your dear and special mom. Sincerely meant. Miriam Eick.

Troy, Brett, and Eric, I am sorry for your loss. Your mother was such a wonderful friend and person. She brought joy to so many people through her smile and friendliness. May God bless you and see you through this hard time.
Lefty, Phyllis was already a happy person when you met her yet your love brought a new spark and energy to her life. Phyllis was so excited and happy (and surprised) that you called her for a date. She loved having you in her life. I am sorry for your loss. May God bless you and keep your strong through this time.
To the Deutmeyer and Errthum families: I am sorry for your loss. Phyllis was a very special person. I am glad I knew her and that she was a part of my life. Her love lives on through all of you. May God bless you!

Troy, Brett, Eric and Lefty, So sorry to hear of your loss. We remember Phyllis as happy and always ready to accept whatever came her way. She was excited about that call from Lefty asking her to go on their first convertible ride. What a great neighbor she was. God bless you all. Tom and Ruth Lucas

Troy, Brett, Eric and families. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Phyllis was an amazing woman. She always had the biggest smile on her face and always stopped to say hello when I saw her. I saw her most often at a Western Dubuque performance. She loves the arts so much she said she always had to see the show. She often talked about an upcoming event she was going to for one of her grandkids and she beamed with joy when she spoke of them. She will be greatly missed. You have a very special angel to watch over you all. Much love and continued prayers through this difficult time.

Grandma Phyllis was one of a kind and I always enjoyed talking to her at Gedion and Omji's sporting events. She always had a smile and a laugh, and she loved her family so much. So sorry for your loss.

I will remember Phyllis from bank trips, funeral lunches and a wave from the bus as she passed mom's. But most of all as the lady who got my niece and nephew to and from school safely for a whole lot of years. RIP Phyllis
