Obituary of Todd M Dunkel

DYERSVILLE, IOWA Todd M. Dunkel, 27, of Federal Heights, Colorado, formerly of Dyersville, died Wednesday April 14, 2010, after a snowboarding accident. Friends may call from 2:00 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday April 21, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 4:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday April 22, 2010, at St Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial at 2:30 p.m. in Mederville Cemetery, Mederville, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Kruse. Survivors include his parents, Ken and Nancy, his grandparents, Marvin and Olga Helle of Earlville, IA, his sister, Jill (Jon) Cochrane of Minneapolis, MN, his niece and godchild, Chloe Cochrane, and his special friend, Kiara Cox of Ft. Collins, CO. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Bernard "Barney" and Rose Marie Dunkel. Todd was born on March 1, 1983, in Dubuque, Iowa, the son of Kenneth and Nancy (Helle) Dunkel. He graduated from Western Dubuque High School in 2001, and from Luther College in 2009. Todd served in the US Navy from 2001 - 2005, primarily serving on the USS Enterprise. Todd earned a Black Belt in Karate in high school and loved fishing, hunting and snowboarding.
