Daniel L. Tegeler, 61, of Dyersville, Iowa died Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Mercy Medical Center, Dyersville, Iowa. Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 3, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Dan was born on February 2, 1949, in St. Louis, MO, the son of Herbert and Annie (Kohaut) Tegeler. He married Ellen Meyers on Sept. 19, 1970, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville, Iowa. Dan grew up with the family business, Tegeler Body and Frame, Wrecker and Crane, Inc. Dan's last day was filled doing the things he loved at work. He was a proud member of the Dyersville Fire Department from 1973 - 2000. He felt it an honor to be chosen and a privilege to serve. Dan's spare time was devoted to his family, especially his grandchildren, who waited in line for a ride on Grandpa's Trail Buck. To all his friends, Dan was known as a heckler. He loved to laugh with everyone. Survivors include his wife, Ellen, 5 children: Tracy Bartlett, Tammy (John) Olberding, Scott (Nicole) Tegeler, Shelly (special friend, Ken Hageman) Tegeler and Holly Tegeler all of Dyersville, grandchildren: Kimberly and James Bartlett, McKenna, Cassidy, Shelby and Elizabeth Olberding, and Kayli, Luke and Baby-On-The-Way Tegeler; his parents, Herb and Annie Tegeler, a brother, Jesse (Amy) Tegeler, and 2 sisters: Janie Tegeler and Sherry Krapfl, all of Dyersville; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Martha) Meyers of Brownwood, TX, Thomas (Judi) Meyers of Buckeye, AZ, Fred (Linda) Meyers and Mary (Don) Mulherin, all of Cedar Rapids, IA, Judy Boge of Dyersville, and Phil (Teresa) Meyers of Show Low, AZ, 1 uncle, Walter (Hannelore) Kohaut of Frankfurt, Germany, several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father & mother-in-law, Jim and Stella Meyers, a brother-in-law, Bob Boge and a nephew, Tim Boge. Memorials are preferred to Dyersville Red Jackets.
