Julie was born on May 11, 1921, in Dyersville, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Amelia (Jasper) Goerdt. She worked for J.C. Penney Co. for many years and waitressed at the Ritz Supper Club for 52 years. She loved to bowl, play cards, watch the Cubs and go on bus trips. Julie and Jeanette loved sharing in the lives of their nieces and nephews, and their families Survivors include 3 sisters-in-law: Mary A. Goerdt of Dyersville, Margaret Doerr and Helen Osterhaus, both of Dubuque, 2 nephews: Dan (Jennifer) Goerdt of Crystal Lake, IL, Terry (Mary Jo) Goerdt of Waterloo, IA, 3 nieces: Patti (Eldie) Ries of Dyersville, Chery (Bob) Greenwood of Waterloo, IA and Debra Osterhaus of Dubuque, IA; several great nieces & nephews and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers: Merlin and Delbert Goerdt, 2 sisters: Emerald (Cletus) Osterhaus, Jeanette Goerdt, 2 nephews: Dale and Dennis Osterhaus, and 2 great nephews: Ryan and Jeff Ries. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Phil Kruse.
