Joseph S. Pederson, 85, of Monticello died Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, IA. Friends may call from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 31, 2010, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, 2010, at the United Church of Monticello. Rev. Ed Moreano will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello where Military Honors will be accorded. Joe was born July 13, 1924, in Wabasha, Minn. the son of Alfred J. and Sara Mae (Sutton) Pederson. He graduated from Columbia University in Missouri through the Cadet Training Program. Joe served in the US Air Force from 1942 until being honorably discharged 1946 with the rank of Corporal. Joe married Mary A. Coberly on May 2, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Joe and Mary have their Amway business based from their home in Monticello. Joe is survived by his wife, Mary, 4 daughters: Mary Jo Koch of Monticello, Chris (Vern) Steffen of Racine, WI, Katie (Jim) Bronemann, Lisa (Dennis) Freitas, both of Monticello and a son, Cass Pederson of Monticello, Iowa, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren; He is preceded in death by 2 sons: an infant son, Joseph, Jr., and Neil; 2 brothers.
