Obituary of James Collins

MONTICELO, IOWA

James, “Jim” L. Collins,71 of Monticello, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab, Monticello, Iowa.

Plans for a memorial service have been postponed due to Covid-19 exposure.

Jim was born June 28, 1949, in Lovell Township, the son of Lester and Betty (Lang) Collins.

Jim was a lifelong New York Yankees, Green Bay Packers, and Iowa Hawkeye fan.

He was a graduate of Monticello High School and Iowa Lakes Community College.

Survivors include his sister, Barb Collins of Iowa City and his brother, Jeff (Ellen) Collins of Iowa City; his nieces, Leigha (Ryan) Wagner and Sarah Collins; and a nephew, Adam (Jodi) Collins; four great nephews and two great nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

The family would like to take the opportunity to thank the staff at the Monticello Nursing

and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and companionship they have provided over the years. Also, a special thanks to Above & Beyond Hospice Care for their assistance and support near the end of Jim’s life.
