Beverly A. (Tuel) Lahr, 68, of Worthington, Iowa died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Shady Rest Care Center, Cascade, Iowa. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Friday, July 16, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where the Altar Society Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m. and the Worthington Fire Dept. will gather at 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, July 17, 2010 at St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Gross with Deacon Fred Pins assisting. Beverly was born on August 13, 1941 in Monticello, Iowa, the daughter of Arvil and Eunice (Boxwell) Tuel. She married Herman T. Lahr on June 18, 1960 in Worthington, Iowa. Bev worked for the Western Dubuque Elementary School for over 30 years attending to students with special needs. She enjoyed good conversation with family, friends or anyone who would listen. Bev was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and Altar & Rosary Society. Survivors include her husband, Herman, 5 children: Gary (Diane), Richard "Dick" (Karen) both of Worthington, IA, Barbara (Phil) Cheek of Cascade, IA, Deborah (Sam) Lahr-Gnagey of Fort Wayne, IN, Diane Steffen (significant other, Tob Patzner) of Colesburg, IA, grandchildren: Eric, Morgan Lahr, Amy, Shelly Drexler, Sarah (Jason) Downing, Jessica Cheek, Adam, Alyssa Lahr, Tashina Lahr, Amber, Ashley Steffen and Corbin Collins, great grandchildren: Connor Sheridan, Dashiel Lahr and Khloe Downing, siblings: Juanita (Tom) Hearst of Tipton, IA, Gene (Leellyn) Tuel of Lawrence, KS, Clarence (Diane) Tuel of Worthington and Dennis (Karen) Tuel of Mt. Pleasant, IA, brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Rosemary) Lahr of Manchester, Harold (Lois) Lahr of Earlville, Patricia (Robert) Wolfe of Dubuque, and Wayne Lahr of Worthington. She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Brad Lahr, brother, James Tuel, father-in-law, Raymond Lahr, mother-in-law and step father, Delores (Leo) Manternach, and a nephew, Brett Hearst. Memorials are preferred to Camp Courageous. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Shady Rest Care Center and to her faithful visitors as well as Hospice of Dubuque, especially Diane and Jenny.
