MONTICELLO, IOWA
Steven P., “Stevie Ray” Sutterman of Monticello, Iowa passed away Saturday, July 12, 2020 of a brief illness.
Steve was born August 2, 1957 in the Quad Cities to Larry and Kay (Joy) Sutterman Eilers.
Surviving are his wife Tammy (Chapman) Sutterman of 24 years and his son Nash and a special friend, Shelby; a brother, Jeff (Beth) Sutterman of Maryland; a mother-in-law, Mary Tschantz; a step-father, Bob Eilers, many in-laws and nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Larry; his mother, Kay; a brother, Scott Sutterman; and a brother-in-law, Terry Chapman.
Steve earned an Associates of Arts Degree from Blackhawk College in the Quad Cities and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Augustana College in Illinois. He was employed for 24 years with the airlines/FedEx. He drove truck with first fleet for a short time at the Ethanol Plant in Dyersville. From August 9, 2010 to present, he had been working at Quaker Oats, as well as a Quaker Oats First Responder.
He was a volunteer for 8 years with the Monticello Fire Department, firefighter I and II. He also volunteered for Make-A-Wish and for Boy Scouts of America.
He was an avid lover and collector of trains and Texaco Banks. He cherished his time spent with his son, Nash. He enjoyed golfing, dancing, casino trips, fireworks, and most importantly, time with his family and friends. He was a fan of the Chicago Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes.
A Celebration of Life will begin at 5 pm, Saturday, July 18, 2020 at The Beer Tent, located just north of the Monticello Golf Club, with social distancing practiced. Food and drink will be provided.
