NEW VIENNA, IOWA Marvin R. Gassmann, 76, of New Vienna, Iowa died Monday, July 26, 2010 at his daughter's home, Earlville, Iowa. Friends may call from 2:30 - 8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 5 p.m., the Dyersville Fire Department will gather at 6 p.m. and a K of C Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday July 30, 2010 at St. Boniface Catholic Church in New Vienna, Iowa with burial in St. Paul Cemetery, Worthington, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. John O'Connor. . Survivors include his 12 children: Steve (Betty) of Indianola, Iowa, Mickey (Mark) Wagner of Earlville, Iowa, Wayne (Geralyn) of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jackie (Mike) Milz of Dyersville, Iowa, Jim (Wendy) of Dyersville, Iowa, Pam (Karl) Ertl of Estes Park, Colo., Joan (Chad) Colston of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Bill (Tammy) of Indianola, Iowa, Marvin, Jr. of Holy Cross, Iowa, Joseph (Yessica) of Winterset, Iowa, Kevin (Amy) of Holy Cross, Iowa and Tom "T.J." (Nikki) of Estes Park, Colo., 23 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; 9 siblings: Lyle Gassmann of Dubuque, IA, Betty Gotto of Bankston, IA, Gladys Knepper of Dyersville, Mary Agnes (James) Schnier of Bellvue, IA, Connie Lueck of Mineral Point, WI, LeRoy (Marge) Gassmann of Asbury, IA, Robert (Bev) Gassmann of Opelousas, LA, Kenneth Gassmann of Bullhead City, AZ, Gerald Gassmann of Davenport, IA, Betty Hermsen Gassmann and Robert Fitzgerald, both of Dyersville, Iowa, 2 brothers-in-law: James Hogan of Arizona and Robert Hogan of Worthington, Iowa, 2 sisters-in-law: Donna Wolfe of Worthington, Iowa and Joyce Digmann of Platteville, Wis. Marvin was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia, his parents, parents-in-law, Ray and Marie Hogan, 2 sisters: Sylvia Fitzgerald, Eileen Besler, and a brother, John Gassmann, Marvin's wishes are that memorial contributions be given to St. Boniface Parish of New Vienna, IA. Marv was born on January 13, 1934 in Holy Cross, Iowa, the son of Aloysious and Leonette (Kluesner) Gassmann. He married Patricia Hogan on January 31, 1953 in Worthington, Iowa. Together they farmed and raised their family just south of New Vienna. Marv owned and operated Gassmann Realty for over 30 years, and also worked for Mormons Feeds and Archer Oil.
