Obituary of Elmer Paul Tegeler

Elmer was born on September 6, 1926, in Dyersville, Iowa, the son of Gregor and Mathilda (Billmeyer) Tegeler. He married Edna M. Klosterman on January 6, 1947, in Dyersville, Iowa. Elmer was a custodian for Western Dubuque School system for over 35 years retiring in January 2002. He loved to watch baseball, especially games in which his grandchildren were playing and the Chicago Cubs. Surviving are his daughter, Bev Boeckenstedt of New Vienna, IA, son-in-law, Don Ungs of Dyersville, IA, 4 grandchildren: Julie (G.J) Clothier of Epworth, IA, Jan (Marty) Schwers of Luxemburg, IA, Nic Ungs of New Orleans and Matt Ungs of Dubuque, IA, 5 great grandchildren: Ellie & Olivia Clothier, Libby, Spencer & Mitchell Schwers, siblings: Leona Gudenkauf of Dyersville, IA, Marcella (Fritz) Bries of Epworth, IA, Lou Overman of Dyersville, Bernice Holub of Prairieburg, IA, Don (Cathy) Tegeler of Dyersville, step-siblings: Herb Tegeler of Dyersville, Mary Jean "Toots" (Hank) Westhoff of New Vienna, IA, and his step-mother, Dolores Tegeler Geistkemper Deutmeyer of Dyersville, IA, sisters-in-law, Irene Fischel of Edgewood, IA, Beverly Tegeler of Bellevue, IA, brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Millie, Verna, Norma and Lori Klosterman, and Gerald Olberding. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna in 1993, daughter, Jane Ungs, son-in-law, Mike Boeckenstedt, siblings: Infant Lucille, Ray, Tony, and Gib Tegeler, Helen Kramer, Norma Platz-Deppe, and several in-laws from the Tegeler and Klosterman families. Friends may call from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Quint.
