Obituary of Mary Coletta Kintzle

Mary Coletta Kintzle, 95, of Monticello, Iowa and formerly of Prarieburg, Iowa died Monday, October 11, 2010, at Hallmar at Mercy in Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, October 14, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 15, 2010, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Prairieburg, IA with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Wayne Droessler will officiate. Coletta was born May 27, 1915, in Cascade Iowa the daughter of John and Grace (Tucker) Kearney. She married Carl B. Kintzle on June 25, 1935, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Cascade. Together they farmed for 9 years near Cascade and 47 years at Prairieburg. They moved to Monticello in 1987. She is a past member of the St. Joseph Altar & Rosary Society and the Worthwhile Homemakers Club. Coletta's life revolved around her faith and her family. Everyone has fond memories of Coletta's wonderful meals. She is survived by 6 children: Joanne Smith of Cedar Rapids, IA, Harold (Gloria) Kintzle of Anamosa, IA, Darrell (Karen) Kintzle of Hiawatha, IA, Jack (Dee) Kintzle of Toddville, IA, Joyce (Kurt) Moser of Bloomington, IL and Bob Kintzle of Hiawatha, IA; 18 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 3 step-great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren; a sister, Virginia (Cletus) McCabe of Dubuque, IA and 1 sister-in-law: Clara Kintzle of Manchester, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Carl on Feb. 12, 2010, a grandson, Greg Smith, 5 siblings: Joseph (Peggy) Kearney, Wilfred (Mildred) Kearney, Clarence (Catherine) Kearney, Cecelia (Joe) Healy and Donald (Marion) Kearney; and 8 other brothers-and-sisters-in-law. Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy or Camp Courageous of Iowa. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Hallmar at Mercy for providing a wonderful home for our mother this last year.
