Obituary of Calista Loretta Boge

Calista was born on December 25, 1908 at the Gaul family farm near Luxemburg, Iowa, the daughter of Nicholas and Rosa (Mock) Gaul. Calista was united in marriage to Leander Boge on October 3, 1933 at, Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Luxemburg, Iowa. Together they were parents to 4 children: Kathleen, Joan, James and Kenneth. She and her husband farmed for many years. Her hobbies included baking, crocheting, knitting and quilting. Many of her grandchildren enjoyed her baked cinnamon rolls and holiday decorated sugar cookies, afghans and quilts. Calista and Leander also enjoyed fishing, spending time in Florida and Texas to pursue this hobby. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother to 28 children, 51 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren, and 4 step great granddaughters. Surviving to cherish her memory are two daughters; Kathleen (Joseph) Scherbring of Manchester and Joan (LaVerne) Wilwert of Farley, one son, James Boge of Manchester, daughter in law, Kay Boge of Manchester, one sister, Agnes Pasker, sister in law, Eileen Pins, 27 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren and 4 step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leander, son, Kenneth, a daughter-in-law, Rita Boge, granddaughter, Jeanne Boge and great granddaughter, Jill Wilwert. Her siblings and their spouses, Monica & Wm. Engelken, Rita & Bernard Trenkamp, Sister Mary Crescentia, George & Alice Gaul, Alphonse & Regina Gaul, Amanda & Lawrence Lansing, Nicholas & Anna Gaul, Cletus & Dorothy Gaul, Joseph & Stella Gaul, William & Germaine Gaul, LaVern & Viola Gaul, an infant brother, Vincent and Clarence Pasker, her brothers-and sisters-in-law, Rosella & Phillip Gravel, Lucille & Reynold Kramer, Dolores & Joseph Gravel, Bernice & Clarence Riesberg, Mary Ann & Art Loeffelholz, Frank Milbert, Elmer & Olga Boge, LuVerne & Monica Boge and James Pins. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Tuesday November 2, 2010 at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa. Visitation will continue on Wednesday November 3, 2010 from 9:30 until 10:45 at St Mary's Catholic Church in Manchester, Iowa. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 3, 2010 at St Mary's Catholic Church, Manchester, Iowa with burial in St Francis cemetery, Dyersville, Iowa. Officiating will be Rev. Richard Gaul.
