Obituary of Donna Rae Reittinger

Donna was born on July 15, 1937, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Edward "Percy" and Mabel (Kirkpatrick - Kanter) Strong. She raised her children, supporting them by working various jobs including the Dubuque Packing Co., and as a waitress at the Old Timer's Supper Club, and housekeeping at Loras College and the Glenview Motel. She married Robert Reittinger on February 2, 1991, in Dyersville, Iowa, and together they made their home in Dyersville for the last 20 years. Donna attended daily mass at the Basilica until her health would not allow it. Donna loved to dance, laugh, shop and spoil her grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Robert, 6 children: Diane "DeeDee" (John) Boleyn of Asbury, IA, Cindy Erickson and Amy (Billy) Moore both of Corpus Christi, TX, Kim Boge and Joni (Dennis) Holmes, both of Orlando, FL, Scott (Jessica) Menster of Bloomfield, IA; 3 step children: Vicki (Dan) Palmer of Dyersville, Scott (Michelle) Reittinger of Cedar Rapids, IA, Lori (Joe) Grisham of Adrian, MI; 10 grandchildren: Travis and Jared Boleyn, Chrissy Boge and Keith Erickson, Dylan Holmes, Joseph Boge and L.J. Finzel, Miles, Sam and Ben Menster, 10 step grandchildren: Emily Wilgenbusch, Abby and Ben Palmer, Cooper, Cami, Carli, Cati Reittinger, Danielle, Rachel and Dylan Grisham; 4 sisters: Naomi (Johnny) Vogt, Nancy (Gene) Duwe, Patricia (Wayne) Wilming and Barbara (Bob) Durey, all of Dubuque, IA; brother-and-sisters-in-law: Dave Reittinger of Dyersville, Margaret (Leonard) Vonderhaar of Holy Cross, and Judy Mueller of Dubuque, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, 10 brothers and sisters: Mary Jane, Paul and Robert Strong, all in infancy, Dorothy "Doty" Gansemer, Margery "Margie" Furry-Breitbach, Ken Strong, Betty Testroet, Jack Strong, Phyllis Steiner and Richard "Jimmy" Strong. Friends may call from 2 - 8 p.m. Sunday, November 28, 2010, at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, Iowa where a parish scripture service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 29, 2010, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Officiating will be Rev. Dennis Quint.
