I am so sorry for your loss. May you take comfort in God’s promise for the future at Revelation 21:4, which states: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” Soon we will be reunited with our loved ones that have fallen asleep in death. May the God of all comfort, Jehovah, help to sustain during this difficult time of loss.

I worked in "H" bldg. with George in the 1970's and we enjoyed many political conversations. I respected him greatly! He called me "Sherry Berry Blueberry". He was just great. He lead the funeral in behalf of the military for my Uncle and I saw him last right before the 2016 election. God Bless.

My deepest sympathy on your loss. I worked for George at Deere and lived in the apartments behind his house by Wahlert! Russell and Brad were very little at the time and would come knocking on our apartment door asking if “Canise” could come out and play because they couldn’t say Denise ! So, we would go out and play ball because I loved softball! George would always remind me of that years later whenever I would run into him. He was a nice man. RIP George and my prayers are with your family. Denise

Sorry for the sudden loss of Ernie. I was married to Melvin Goebel and they were friends. Many years ago. Mel died in 1976, age 33. We still cherish our time together with the Goebel family.
I read Ernie's obituary and he was a very wonderful man. My love to his family.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of Richard during this difficult time of loss. Remember to “Throw your burden on Jehovah, and he will sustain you,” (Psalms 55:22). Revelation 21:4 speaks of a time when God will “wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore,” a time when we will be able to welcome back our loved ones who have fallen asleep in death and once again hold them in our arms.

We offer our sincere condolences for your unexpected loss, and our apologies for not being able to share them in person. Ernie was a great man, with the passion of 100, in his efforts on behalf of all veterans and his service to our nation for so many decades. He inspired me often with comments and actions, and consider him a mentor in this lane of supporting veterans. When our loved ones pass, they are kept alive forever in our memories. Dear Smoky and kids- George and I worked together at John Deere for years and retired the same day in 1994. We had a lot of great time at work and away from work on tractor rides. My son, Kevin and Brad were close friends in school and I am sure that he also has a heavy heart at this time. To bad all people were not like George, as this world would be in a much better place. He and all of you are in my and Sandy's prayers. Joe

To say I am sad is a massive understatement... Ernie was a friend, mentor and leader. His sense of humor was second to none, his ability to help and serve others also unmatched. I spent a lot of time with Ernie including a trip to Iowa city to meet with the hyperbaric docs there to discuss how we could help serve Iowa veterans. We worked together on the Bill to provide HBOT to all our veterans here in Iowa. He navigated the mine field that is our Congress and helped us every step of the way. He was tireless when it came to his veterans. I will miss him always and proud to call him my brother. To Vallhalla now Ernie, stop by the tavern on the green and hug my brother Steve... rest easy old friend

Smoky, you and your family lost a wonderful husband and father, our Country lost a Patriot in every sense of the word. I lost a dear and trusted friend - one I shall never forget. I'm sure going to miss those great phone conversations we had which always included at some point that infectious laugh that only Ernie had. Will see you in Heaven, Ernie - God Bless!!!

Russ & Brad & families and Smokey,
So sorry to hear about your loss.
I remember him as such a great father,
always involved in his sons activities.
Brett really enjoyed being at Brad’s
House and “George” made it the place
Where all the kids were welcome!
I’m sure the entire family was very proud of the way he served his country and other veterans.
Would love to see Brad & express my sympathy in person, but I am in Arizona until March.
Your family is in my thoughts and prayers during this sad time, Sue—Brett’s mom

I’m so sorry for your loss. Ernie seemed like a great family man with a lot of family to be remembered by. Something that comforts me is the wonderful hope we have for the future where we can be reunited with our loved ones who we lost in death. The Bible talks about this time at John 5:28,29: “Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life,”. We can look forward to that time when all will be able to live in peace, here on the earth. I hope you can be comforted by this hope in this hard time, and that you will be able to endure until we will see those that we lost again.
