Obituary of Gail Mary Dietrich
WORTHINGTON, IOWA
Gail (Langel) Dietrich, 52, passed away in West Des Moines, IA on December 21, 2018. She was married to Doug and was the loving mother of two sons, Zac, 22, and Luke, 19.
Gail spent her career working at Wells Fargo, beginning her employment out of college and working there for 27 years.
Gail’s devotion was evident to her sons, supporting and participating in their passions and raising them to become thriving young men. Her family fished, camped, gardened, and constructed projects from ideas they all masterminded.
Gail will be remembered as being adventurous along with her readiness to try new things. She was fun to be with and the maker of family traditions and memories, like baking Christmas cookies and having camping trips with her extended family. One of her favorite places was in the kitchen, trying a new recipe or making her signature taco dip or scotcheroos. Gail enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, canning and was very crafty, able to create most anything. She could take charge and be a leader in any situation.
Gail never lost her love of her home town of Worthington and friends from Dyersville Beckman High School or the University of Iowa. Her cheers for the Hawkeyes continued as she supported her boys at Iowa State.
Gail was the glue in her family and will be sadly missed for the joy she brought them.
She is preceded in death by her father, Francis Langel, a brother, Mark Langel and father-in-law, Werner Dietrich.
Surviving is her husband, Doug, 2 sons, Zac and Luke, her mother, Alice Langel of Dyersville, IA, and six siblings: Elaine (Wayne) Their of Dyersville, IA, Carol (Jim) Sipfle of West Des Moines, IA, Gary Langel of Worthington, IA, Bev (Bill) Koehler of Leawood, KS, Deb (Dominic) Moll of Ankeny, IA, and Vicki (Todd) Shepherd of Overland Park, KS. Also surviving is her mother-in-law, Helen Dietrich of Iowa City, IA, sister-in-law Darcy (Francis) Pacheco of Sacramento, CA and 19 nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018, from 8 - 11 am at Kramer Funeral Home in Dyersville, with a Remembrance Service at 11:30 to honor her life at St. Paul Church in Worthington. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery in Worthington, next to her father and brother.
