Obituary of David Francis Thier
David F. Thier, 76 of Worthington, Iowa passed away Friday, October 19, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center, Dubuque, Iowa from injuries sustained in an ATV accident.
Visitation will be held 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville where a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018, St. Paul Catholic Church, Worthington, Iowa with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Ralph Davis will officiate.
Dave was born September 14, 1942, the son of Richard and Mildred (White) Thier. He graduated from St. Paul Catholic School. Dave married Marie Fagan on August 3, 1968 at Holy Family New Melleray Abbey. Together they ran the family farm. He loved his deep roots in Worthington, living there all his life.
Dave was an arborist, he planted many trees and loved gardening. He liked listening to polka music and Johnny Cash. Dave liked to hang out and visit with friends at the feed store, Breitbach’s, and the Last Straw. Friday night family gatherings kept his family close, he will be dearly missed.
Dave is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marie, 3 daughters: Mary (Kevin) Clemen of Worthington, Colleen (Steve) Bartels of Peosta, Joan Thier of Farley. 3 grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Mitchel Clemen, Vala Bartels, brothers: Daniel (Eileen) Thier of Dyersville, Dale (Ann) Thier of Cedar Rapids, Richard Thier of Juneau, WI, in-laws: Joe (LuAnn Burkle) Fagan of Des Moines, Sr. Ruth Fagan of Mount St. Francis
He was preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law, Francis and Florence Fagan
siblings: Ronald Thier, in-laws: Jean Fyten nephew, Jerry Thier
