Obituary of Loras Francis Koppes
SCOTCH GROVE, IOWA
Loras F. “Dutsy” Koppes, 77, of Scotch Grove, passed away Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018, at Unity Point – St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.
Visitation will be held from Noon until 2 pm Thursday, Sept. 27, 2018, at St. Peter Catholic Church in Temple Hill where a Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 2 pm. Burial will be in the church cemetery and Rev. Douglas Loecke will officiate.
Loras was born July 8, 1941, in Monticello the son of Herbert and Frances (Moorman) Koppes. He graduated from school in Cascade and served in the Army National Guard. He enjoyed driving truck nationwide, playing music and socializing.
Survivors include his children: Lisa Smith of Waverly, Randy (Beth) Koppes of Iowa City, Marty Koppes of Monticello, Tim Koppes of Dubuque, Jen (Dom) Luensman of Monticello, Ben (Andrea) Koppes of Ely and Anna (Trevor) Siebels of Monticello; the mother of his children, Joan Koppes of Monticello; 17 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; siblings: Arlene (Earl) Takes of Cedar Rapids, Thomas Koppes of AZ, Kenneth Koppes of Iowa City and James (Diane) Koppes of Cascade, a friend, Erma Heiken of Wyoming, and a sister-in-law, Patricia Koppes of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances, his step-mother, Erma (Kelchen), his father, Herbert, a stillborn son, Francis, a friend, Ella Brokaw, a brother Ronald, a stillborn brother, Robert, a sister Rose Ann Vondracek.
