Obituary of Lois Mary Burkle
Lois M. Burkle, 79, of Dyersville passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque from complications related to surgery.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 pm Friday, August 17, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Saturday from 9-10 am at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Saturday, August 18, 2018, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Ralph Davis will officiate.
Lois was born December 3, 1938, in Petersburg, Iowa the daughter of Alfred and Loretta (Koch) Goedken. She married Donald Burkle on June 23, 1959, in Petersburg. Together they farmed near Dyersville until moving to town in 1992.
Lois was an extraordinary farm wife who loved quilting, cooking and baking, and taking pictures. She also kept up the family tree information.
Survivors include her husband, Donald Burkle, children: Ruth (fiancé Dan Kennedy) Utter of Marion, Jeff (special friend, Janelle Shimon) Burkle of Dyersville, Scott (Terri) Burkle of Dubuque; a daughter-in-law, Lisa (Tom) Reutzel of Lakeville, MN; grandchildren: Jeremy (Noor) Burkle, Justin and Molly Burkle, and Madison and Robert Reutzel; siblings: Joan Pasker, Dale Goedken and Delaine (Paul) Knipper, all of Dyersville, Delores (Terry) O’Brien of Cascade, Sr. Rita Goedken of Morton, MS, Dennis (Ann) Goedken of Cottage Grove, WI, Charles (Patrice) Goedken of Harrisburg, PA; in-laws: Doris Goedken of Dyersville, Lisa Goedken of Conception Junction, MO, Delores Burkle, Leander (Lavonne) Burkle, both of Earlville and Delbert (Dorothy) Burkle of Dyersville
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Timothy Jude Burkle in 2004; siblings: David Goedken in infancy, Floyd Goedken, Sr. Angela Goedken, and Martin Goedken; in-laws: Urban Pasker, Jim Burkle, Alice (Jerome) Wulfekuhle, Herb (Wilma) Burkle and Cletus (Grace) Burkle.
