Obituary of Richard Lawrence Nadermann
Richard L. Nadermann, 86, of Dyersville passed away Thursday, May 31, 2018, at Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade.
Visitation will be held 3-8 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2018, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville. Visitation will continue Tuesday, June 5th from 9-10 am at Kramer Funeral Home prior to funeral services.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2018, St. Francis Xavier Basilica in Dyersville with burial in the church cemetery where military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 137. Rev. Dennis Conway will officiate.
Ric was born August 8, 1931, in Dyersville the son of Herman and Frances (Hermsen) Nadermann. He attended country school east of town and Xavier High School returning to farming on the family farm. He served in the Army from 1953 – 1955. Ric and Alice Steffensmeier were united in marriage on May 7, 1957, at St. Francis Xavier Basilica. Together they continued to farm on the family farm.
Ric enjoyed getting into a good card game, especially Solo. He liked listening to Polka music and went to lots of dances. Family time was important to him whether it was working or socializing on a casual basis.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Alice, 5 children: Doris (Kevin) Demmer of Dyersville, Steve (Sue) Nadermann of Delhi, Karen (Don) Ertl and Gary Nadermann, all of Dyersville, Lori (Dean) Helmke of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren: Brian (Lisa) Demmer, Heidi (Chris) Smith, Nicole (friend Ryan Plummer) Demmer, Doug Nadermann, Scott (Sarah) Nadermann, Tim Nadermann, Ben, Craig, Brad and Megan Ertl, Chad, Rachel, Jessica and Brooke Helmke; great grandchild, Madeline Smith; in-laws: Mary (Charles) Hellmann, Fred (Ann) Steffensmeier, Jim (Rita) Steffensmeier, Gene Prier, Agnes Steffensmeier and Elaine Steffensmeier.
He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Alfred (Vivian) Nadermann, Greg Nadermann and Gib (Marlene) Nadermann; parents-in-law, Emil & Monica Steffensmeier, in-laws: Florence (Joe) Meis, Gene (Helen) Steffensmeier, Lucille Prier, Eldon (Clara Mae) Steffensmeier, Art Steffensmeier and Don Steffensmeier.
Memorials are preferred to Beckman Catholic High School or St. Francis Xavier Basilica.
