Obituary of Margaret Mary Helle
Margaret M. “Margie” Helle, 79 of New Vienna, Iowa passed away Monday, November 13, 2017, at home, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Visitation will be held 4 - 7 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, November 17, 2017 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, New Vienna, Iowa, with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. John O’Connor will officiate.
Margie was born July 7, 1938 in Dyersville, Iowa the daughter of Leonard J. and Charlotte C. “Lottie” (Bockenstedt) Keppler. She married Matthias “Matt” Helle on September 22, 1959 in Edgewood, Iowa. Together they farmed in the Guttenberg area and moved to New Vienna in 1992. After moving to New Vienna, she began cleaning at Hennessy Catholic School and later at New Vienna Mutual Insurance Company. She was a member of St. Boniface Altar/Holy Name Society and New Vienna Garden Club.
Survivors include 7 children: Randy (Sue) Helle of Dyersville, Tom (Barb) Helle, Sandy (John) Auer, Nancy (Matt) Witham and Russ Helle (Darci Borcherding) all of Guttenberg, Susan (Tim) Muilenburg of Marion and Kevin Helle of New Vienna; 15 grandchildren; 1 grandson-in-law, brother: Don (Cathy) Keppler of Manchester; three sisters: Kay Hinners of Fort Dodge, Joyce (Stan) McBurnett of Enid, OK, Deb (Mark) Rima of Cave Creek, AZ; brothers and sisters-in-law: Marcie Keppler of Strawberry Point, Art (Germaine) Helle of Manchester, Rosie Helle of Edgewood, Dick (Connie) Helle of Peosta and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt in 2004, a son, William in infancy, granddaughter, Brandi Witham, her parents: Leonard and Charlotte Keppler, father and mother-in-law: Matthias P. and Otilia H. (Gosen) Helle, brother, Dick Keppler, brothers-in-law: Jim Hinners and Greg Helle, niece, Michelle Rima, and nephew, Dave Helle.
In lieu of plants, flowers or other gifts, memorials are preferred to Hospice of Dubuque.
