Obituary of Herman J Lemmer

MONTICELLO, IOWA

Herman Lemmer, 81, of Monticello, Iowa, died Sunday, August 27, 2017, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab.

Visitation will be held from 9 - 12 am Friday, September 1, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a funeral service will commence at 12:00 Noon.  Rev. Ed Moreano will officiate.  Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery in Cascade.

Herman was born July 5, 1936, in Cascade, Iowa the son of Jacob and Rosella Lemmer.  He worked at Georgia Pacific in Monticello for many years.  Herman loved to ride his bicycle around town and would often end up at the library to read the newspaper.  He also loved traveling, especially to the various state fairs.

Survivors include five sisters: Patricia Lux of Dubuque, Dorthy Aschtgen of Cascade, Betty (Dick) Johnson of Cedar Rapids, Rose (Dean) Mason of Carson and Monica Chapman of Manchester; three brothers: Robert (Madonna) Lemmer, Jim (Kathy) Lemmer, both of Monticello and Mike (Laurie) Lemmer of Cascade; a sister-in-law: Janet Lemmer of Cedar Falls and several nieces and nephews.               

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Theresa Chapman, and a brother Richard Lemmer, brothers-in-law: Bill Lux, Elmer Aschtgen, Glen Chapman and LaVerl Chapman.
