Kim spent her school days at Guttenberg School, graduating in 1985. After high school she earned a degree in Fashion Merchandising from Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
On November 18, 1995, she was united in marriage to Wayne Althoff. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Lindsay Alea and Alyssa Michelle. The Althoffs lived their entire 21 years together on an acreage outside of Dyersville.
Kim's work career started at Von Mauer Department Store in Cedar Rapids, until she moved to Dyersville. She was employed by Kann's Import in Guttenberg and she spent many years at the Country Junction Restaurant, as a hostess and an Assistant Manager. Kim also managed the gift shop there which was her favorite part. She worked part time at Fareway, and for the past year she has worked at The Fidelity Bank and Trust in Dyersville and really enjoyed this job and her co-workers.
During that time she also did a lot of volunteer work at church events and at Xavier and Beckman School functions.
Kim loved her family dearly, there was nothing she enjoyed more than being a mother to her girls. Some of her favorite pastimes were to go to dance performances of The Beckman Dance Team, volleyball games, plays and musicals. She enjoyed sitting down with a good book. She really liked spending time on the river boating, camping and picnicking. She loved concerts, dancing and laughing with her family and friends. She cherished going on vacations with her family, her parents and her best friend, Janet. Kim taught her daughters how to love unconditionally, enjoy life, be independent, and fun- loving.
