Obituary of Kenneth R Heiring
Kenneth R. Heiring, 72 of Dyersville, Iowa and Avon Park, Florida passed away Monday August 14, 2017, at Shady Care Rest Center, Cascade Iowa, after battling Parkinson’s Disease for 10 years.
Visitation will be held 2-4 p.m. Saturday, August 19, 2017, at Kramer Funeral Home, 750 12th Ave SW in Dyersville.
Ken was born April 12, 1945 in Dyersville, Iowa the son of John and Wilma (Klocker) Heiring. The family moved to West Palm Beach, FL in 1954. A few years later, they moved to Avon Park, FL where Ken graduated from Avon Park High School in 1963.
Ken enlisted in the U.S. Air Force as a jet mechanic. He married Judith Pohle of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin in 1966 and 30 days later left for Vietnam. His service ended in 1968. After military service Ken & Judi settled in Avon Park where they raised 4 children. Ken worked as a civilian for the Dept of Defense on the Avon Park Bombing Range as an electrician. In his spare time he built houses and raised bees. After the death of his wife, Judi, Ken married Nancy Seibold Clayton in 2001. Together they moved to Ellen Kennedy Living Center in Dyersville in 2012. Ken enjoyed woodworking, collecting coins and model trains, hiking, canoeing, camping and RVing across the country.
Ken is survived by his wife, Nancy, children: Laura (Dean) Richardson, Leslie (Thomas) Simpson and Leah (David) Mobarak, step-daughter, Christine Clayton, siblings: Verna Fangman, William (Pat Glab) Heiring, Jerome Heiring, Marian (Ron) Kingry, grandchildren: Megan Fairbanks, Haley Richardson, Aaron Simpson, Nolan Simpson, Sophia Mobarak and dozens of cherishes nieces and nephews
Ken was preceded in death by his first wife, Judith Pohle, parents, John and Wilma Heiring, one son, Douglas Heiring, a brother, Jack Heiring, an infant sister, Marcia Heiring, a step-daughter, Melissa Clayton Tydlaska, in-laws: Clarence Fangman and Teresa Klostermann Heiring.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Avon Park.
Memorials may be made to the Basilica of St. Francis Xavier, Dyersville, Iowa, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Avon Park, Florida or the National Parkinson’s Foundation.
