My name is Jim Kennedy. I used to live in Ottawa, Illinois now I live in Zeeland, Michigan.
George was a close friend of mine back in 1970 & 1971 aboard the USS MIDWAY during our time in San Francisco and later in the Combat Waters of the Tonkin Gulf. We both served in M Divsion in #1 Group. We were drinking buddies. George and I spent many hours together on and off duty. He would carry me back onboard the MIDWAY when I got drunk and legless. We had each others back. He was a great friend. It makes me sad to read about his passing..
Rest in Peace George
Master Capt James Kennedy, USMM

Hi Karen,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your husband George. I wish I knew the words to ease your pain but I know I don't. I hope that with the passing of time your pain eases and that the memory of all the happy times together sustains you.
God Bless, Denny

Dear Karen and Family, We were saddened to learn of George's passing. We send our deepest condolences. Being one of the older remaining sisters, it especially hard when younger family members pass. As I think of George, I remember the time you and he along with his parents and Milly and Carl drove down on the spur of the moment with 3 pick up trucks of cut wood for us. I enjoyed his telling me about his navy experience of being on the ship that was charged with recovering an early, if not the first, space capsule. And that he had met and formed friendships journalist from all over. He took them up on the invitation to visit New York City. They showed him all over town.
We hope you find love and comfort from each other. Our prayers and thoughts are with you.
Love, Gerty and Larry

I am sorry to hear of George's passing. He took the time to search me out when bringing in a vehicle for service and would always ask about my family. We would share stories of raising kids and you could tell family was very important to George. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time of loss.

I grew up in Monticello and remember George as a very kind and compassionate person. I joined the USAF in 1969 and lost touch with him after that. I was saddened to hear of his passing and extend my condolences to his family. My prayers are with you in your time of grief.

So very sorry to hear of George's passing. George was truly a kind person, and we always enjoyed seeing him and chatting with him at Bluff Lake. Our trips to Bluff Lake will just not be the same without good ol' George around! God's blessings to the entire family! RIP George!
