Obituary of Jolene Marie Schwendinger

MONTICELLO, IOWA Jolene M. Schwendinger, 63 of Monticello died peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday April 2, 2011, at Monticello Nursing and Rehab Center. Friends may call from 3 - 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at the Kramer Funeral Home in Monticello where a parish scripture service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday April 7, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello with burial in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monticello, Iowa. Rev. Keith Birch will officiate. Surviving are brothers Dean (Marty) of Monticello, IA, Kenneth (Gail) of Salisbury, NC, David (Tammy) of Williamsburg, IA., and Steven (Allison) of Las Vegas NV. Sister-in-law Kathy Schwendinger of Mayer, MN, aunt, Darlene Schwendinger of Cedar Rapids, IA and many nieces and nephews. Jolene was born July 23, 1947, in Monticello Iowa the daughter of Kenneth and Rosalene Kuriger Schwendinger. She graduated from Sacred Heart High School in 1965 and continued her education at Gates College in Waterloo, Iowa. She began her career at Cuckler's in Monticello and then continued at Cedar Rapids City Hall for a number of years. She retired from the Cedar Rapids Postal Service with twenty-one years of service. Jolene was devoted to her family and friends. She loved to chat and was known to exceed her cell phone minutes on more than one occasion. Her other interests included the Dominic club, bowling and the 600 club, her cat and horses, motorcycling, playing cards, fishing, traveling, camping, white-water rafting, oil painting and movies. One can see that Jolene loved life. Jolene is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Thomas and one sister, Louise.
